Abstract

Background: A middle-aged woman with generalized anxiety disorder began acupuncture treatment (five element) with the goal of discontinuing anxiety medication.

Case: The patient began acupuncture treatments in September 2018. This patient was consistently treated on her constitutional factors (CF) and found consistent decrease in her anxiety, to the point where her primary care provider (PCP) agreed to discontinue her anxiety medication.

Outcome: Within one year the patient has discontinued her anxiety medication. The acupuncture treatments the patient received were based on treating her constitutional element as defined by five element acupuncture.
