Abstract

This article reviews the recent scenario of renewable sources of energy in our country India. The necessity of increased use of renewable power is important because it can provide pollution free electricity and contribute towards making the Indian power sector an important source of green energy. The most common renewable energy resources include solar photovoltaic, wind, biomass, hydro etc. Distributed Generation (DG) based on Renewable Energy Technologies is becoming a more important energy option in the future generation system. These type of renewable energy resources are grid connected for making the Distributed Generation system more efficient and reliable. This paper also presents the current potentials of renewable sources of energy and about DG options in India. This review article will be resourceful for scientists, industrialists and researchers working in the areas of distributed generation, its planning and its distribution in power supply systems.
