Abstract
Common law in England and Wales is based on the earlier judgments of courts and legal institutions. This form of law is known as judicial precedent and lower courts must follow the decisions laid down by the higher courts. Courts in England and Wales decide cases and interpret statutes created by the Parliament. The English legal system keeps on evolving and legal precedents made by Judges play a strong role in defining the law.
