El uso de la internet y su influencia en la comunicación familiar (Use of the Internet and Its Influence in Family Communication)

Abstract

Spanish Abstract: La presente investigación se llevó a cabo con el propósito de realizar una exploración sobre la influencia que tiene el uso de la Internet en la comunicación familiar. Para el desarrollo de la propuesta se tomó una muestra de doscientas familias del municipio de Rionegro, a las cuales se les aplicó una encuesta (padres e hijos), de tal manera que se pudiera llegar a una reflexión, y diseñar estrategias de orientación e intervención relacionados con los espacios y tiempos que dedican para interactuar y mejorar la comunicación en el hogar. El estudio, con un enfoque mixto, permitió captar la gran incidencia de la Internet en las nuevas configuraciones familiares, y se pudo determinar cuáles son los mayores obstáculos que se presentan a la hora de establecer vínculos cuando están mediados por la Internet. Para la familia es urgente revisar continuamente cómo se están comunicando y qué retos se van presentando para adoptar las nuevas tecnologías sin que se sacrifique la relación y comunicación familiar.

English Abstract: This paper shows the result of a research about the internet influence on communication inside family groups. In order to develop this research, it was necessary to work with two hundred families from the municipality of Rionegro, Antioquia. A survey was administered to the families in order to find out the cause of the communication issue. Taking this survey into consideration, it would be possible to design strategies that guide families to reflect on the time and space they spend interacting and improving their communication in their homes. The findings allowed seeing the significant influence of Internet on the families, as well as, determining the prominent obstacles or challenges that emerge when people want to create links or make connections through the use of the Internet. Families and schools need to become aware of how they are communicating, analyze the issues that are blocking an effective interaction, and face the challenges to adopt new technologies without sacrificing the relationship and adequate communication in homes and schools.
