Abstract

Information communication technology (ICT) like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are making huge strides in their development and application fields. Technologies like this are used with immense success in the USA for the quick and timely resolution of the cases and have become a part of the criminal justice system. Although this technology is still in the developmental stage, there is enough scope for its implementation. In a vast country like India, where the criminal justice system is overburdened by the cases and lack of infrastructure continues to be the woes, the use of ICT can be a golden solution for the timely resolution of the cases. Similarly, there is ample scope for the implementation of ICT for the purpose of providing legal aid to the poor and needy, as the fee for quality legal representation are exorbitant for the poor, and ICT can provide them with the solution for their legal distress. As the world is moving forward, India cannot be left behind and allowed to continue with its archaic, obsolete and inefficient system of criminal justice. The solution provided by the ICT can be implemented with caution, by following the roadmap of the USA.
