Abstract

Background: Since December 2019, Novel coronavirus pneumonia has been reported from Wuhan, China, we try to analysis the clinical, biological and epidemiological characteristics among the COVID-19 confirmed patients, and find the variation of different clinical staging.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on all patients with confirmed COVID-19 who were admitted for care at Fifth Medical center of PLA General Hospital in Peking, we used the respiratory or blood samples by RT-PCR or highly homologous with COVID-19 by sequencing of virus genes is positive result was the diagnosis standard for Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia.

Results: 55 patients (23 female and 32 male) clinical, biological and epidemiological characteristic were collected in our study, the age of them ranging from 3 to 85 years with the mean age was 44.93 years (SD=17.86). 34/55 had travelled or lived in Wuhan or Hubei, and 29/55 had contact with confirmed patients, 4 patients had no the travel or contact history. The most confirmed patients had the fever (47/55) and cough (28/55), fever (85.45%), pneumonia (65.45%), and cough (50.91%) were important sign of COVID-19, the time from exposure to morbidity were ranging from 1 to 22 days with mean time was 7.84 (4.78) days. IL-6 (56.85%), Lactic acid (48.89%), CPR (41.82%), and ESR (39.22%) were significant improvement than normal, and CD4 (44.73%), T-LYM (28.21%), B-LYMV (25.71%), NK-LYMV (25.71%), and CD8 (21.05%) had a decrease than normal.

Conclusion: All people are susceptible for COVID-19, most confirmed patients had the travel history to Wuhan or contact history with confirmed patient, poor immunity had a higher risk to get COVID-19 than others, the most common clinical symptoms are fever, cough, and weakness, the mean incubation in our study are 7.84 days, the confirmed patients usually had the IL-6, Lactic acid, CPR, and ESR. Elder and had anamnesis patients had the high risk of deterioration than others, and the clinical staging and complication had highly correlated.
