Abstract

This paper proposes a new approach to identify and deter China’s Internet counterfeiters. Due to China’s obsessive need to closely monitor all aspects of Chinese society, laws and systems exist in China that can be used by e-commerce sites to pinpoint and identify counterfeiters who use China’s Internet. This paper explains how brand owners can use these systems to identify and deter counterfeiters by exposing them to what they fear and loathe the most: transparency and accountability for their actions.
