Abstract

We are witnessing the biggest natural experiment in league design in Australian sporting history. Governance models are being stress-tested like never before as financial and legal relations between league administrations and clubs are reset at speed.

Australia's sharpest sporting executives face harsh trade-offs and choices between bad and worse outcomes in response to the societal and financial threats of coronavirus. How do they save a league? Or a sport?
