Abstract
On the first page of Chapter 1, entitled Columbus Redux, Professor Fischer observes that Europe in recent years has sought to emulate the United States. The he adds:" Now that trend appears to be changing," by which he seems to be suggesting that the United States is beginning to follow Europe's lead. Hence the title of the book, one would think: The Europeanization of America. Thus, with a spirit of adventure this reviewer embarked upon what promised to be a literary voyage of discovery into the influences of Europe on America in general and on American law in particular. But this reviewer arrived at the end of the book disappointed, and feeling vaguely cheated.
