Abstract

This Book Chapter provides an overview of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the U.S. Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as related to legal protection against sex discrimination in public schools’ admissions and curriculum and the prohibition of sexual discrimination in educational programs receiving federal funds. The Author explains Title IX’s application to sexual misconduct in education and employment, as well as to discrimination against LGBT, pregnant or parenting individuals.
