Abstract
Used lubricant oil spillages are the problems to the deterioration of the environment which can be reduced by using an alternative. Non-edible oils can be considered as an alternative to conventional lubricant. In this work, TiO2 nanoparticles are added to the cassia tora oil and further examination was done using pin-on-disc machine. During this study, variation in the sliding speed and a certain load was applied. Maximum COF and specific wear rate were obtained at lower sliding speed. Minimum was observed at shigher sliding speed. Reduction in friction and wear was observed up to 0.2% TiO2 additive and maximum at 0.3%. The better surface of the material was obtained at 0.2% additive with comparison to the cassia tora oil.
