Abstract

This research note focuses on trends in the publication of research on cybersecurity and in whether multidisciplinary approaches to this research have become more prominent. Through the lens of the Web of Science, there has been a dramatic rise in research on cybersecurity. However, there is little evidence of a significant growth of multidisciplinary approaches to this research. While more detailed research needs to be done, the paper offers several thoughts on what factors are braking the move of more researchers into this area, given the critical role cybersecurity could play in the future of the Internet.
