Abstract

The question frequently asked over the years is how to fight pollution of the Earth, airspace and, outer space by space activities in a more impactful manner. Therefore, the premise of this essay is to adopt a legal standpoint in highlighting the effectiveness of unified, predictable, and enforceable outer space legal principles to safeguard against environmental degradative practices. In doing so, the argument will be limited to the Sustainable Development Goal number thirteen (SDG 13). Ultimately, it is to unpack the catalytic role that can be played by the principles of space law in creating a bedrock for space as a tool to address challenges of climate change.
