Abstract

The present study explores and investigates the scholarly communication in the Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science (JASHS) over a period of 10 years from 2010-2019. In all 594 research papers are published in 10 volumes spread in 60 issues with average 59 papers published per year during the study period. Essential bibliometric measures have been used and applied to analyse different publication parameters. It can be confirmed from this study that multi-authored papers are in high number compared to single-authored papers. The average degree of collaboration in JASHS is 0.99. Lotka’s law has been applied and tested and found to confer to a value of n=2.88. Total 26,027 citations have been found appended to 594 research papers. It is also revealed through the analysis that journals (86.53 percent) are major preferred sources of information by authors followed by books (6.53 percent). The collected from 594 research papers is analyzed to derive ranked list of prolific authors, Institutions/Organizations, journals and prolific authors.
