Total State and Local Taxes Paid by the Financial Services Industry

Abstract
The author examines state taxation of the financial services industry and says that industry pays relatively high business taxes, primarily on capital income. The financial services sector paid $45.9 billion in state and local taxes in fiscal 2003.
