Abstract
The objective of this paper is to study the nature and trends of cropping pattern in Orissa, a coastal state of India. For this purpose we have taken into account all thirteen districts of the state and 18 crops of the districts which cover more than 95percent of the gross cropped area of the district. The period of the study is from 1985 to 2000. We have calculated the area, yield and production of the crops and showed its trend in the aforesaid period.
