Abstract
One of the most significant amendments to the Motor Vehicle Safety Act brought about by the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability, and Documentation (TREAD) Act was the introduction of criminal penalty provisions. Considering the severe penalties that can result for failure to comply, understanding these provisions is essential for any company within TREAD's reach, which includes anyone from vehicle manufacturers through small retail outlet centers. This brief article discusses the scope and implications of these criminal penalties.
