Abstract

This paper on the allocation of jurisdiction in the American federal judicial system and treatment of interjurisdictional conflicts has been prepared for the conference, Developing American Law and Its Impact on China, organized by the American Law Institute/American Bar Association for Chinese national judges, lawyers and law students to be held at Renmin University, Beijing, China (June 7-9, 2006). It is meant to serve as a summary introduction to these subjects for those who may otherwise be unfamiliar with them.
