Abstract

This case series (see also UVA-OM-1067, UVA-OM-1080, and UVA-OM-1082) deals with the transition from a push-based supply chain to an agile pull-based system. The C case provides a brief description of the old paragon of operational thinking to let students know that Tradall has approved a new low-proof production facility for European demand, which will be run contrary to Southampton's agile methods: long production runs, few changeovers, large inventories. Southampton wonders whether it should continue the agile transformation at all.

Keywords: implementing change, operations strategy, supply-chain
