Abstract

LLJ abstract: Thoughts about the CAN-SPAM Act over the breakfast table lead Ms. Whisner to explore various practices associated with naming statutes, with a side trip to locate the origins of a standard research tool, the popular name table.

A few more notes: Essay traces when the Sherman Act got that name, describes different ways that statutes have people's names attached, and discusses statute names that form clever acronyms.

Keywords: statutes, popular names, Sherman Act, Congress, legislation
