Abstract

Tourism can mean relaxation and pleasure, from the perspective of those who pay, which is also true in the case of tourism intersecting the public sphere (event and conference tourism) or with a lucrative purpose. From the rules that govern the behavior of the consumer of tourist products, the most important one is that of obtaining, while consuming, the best ratio quality/price - high quality goods or services at a low price. This is the golden rule of consuming, at any moment and in any field.

The purpose of this paper is to direct the quality of provided services and the image promoted by Romanian hotel units. These topics can be approached from the perspective of modern management, based on vision, values, objectives and strategies, elaborated by professionals, as well as on training managers who would apply managerial instruments and techniques oriented towards best practices codes, standards and excellence models.

From the research already performed until now, we have noticed that it is important to move from the slogan I have enough experience and I know what quality in a hotel is about - significant in the answers provided by the respondents, to the slogan I am always ready to learn anything that would bring more loyal clients to my hotel.

We aim to present the necessary steps in building a behavioral model for the manager in the Romanian hotel system /hospitality industry. In this context, there is the need for an open, constructive and cooperative attitude rom the managers and for switching from the empirical approach of the practitioner in this field, based on common sense and experience, to the scientific approach of the manager, which adds the knowledge of concepts, principles and laws, methods and techniques, instruments, models, standards, best practices, etc.

This type of approach of Romanian hotel services requires sensitizing the people interested / involved in this field, providing them with general information and training performing managers specialized in quality management, with solid knowledge and consolidated skills, able to inspire their work team with efficient behavioral models.
