2025 Conference on AI and FinTech

Co-Organized by Tsinghua PBCSF, CKGSB, HKUST Business School and SUSTech College of Business
in collaboration with the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), and the Journal of Finance and Data Science (JFDS)
18-19 August 2025 • Beijing China

We are excited to organize the 3rd Annual Conference on AI and FinTech on 18-19 August, 2025. The conference is co-organized by Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance (Tsinghua PBCSF), Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) School of Business and Management and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) College of Business in collaboration with the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), and the Journal of Finance and Data Science (JFDS).
This two-day event will focus on AI applications in finance and related industries. It will bring together academics, industry experts, and regulators to explore the latest developments, opportunities, and challenges related to investing in the era of AI, particularly in Asia but not limited to just Asia.

The conference will take place on Aug 18-19 in Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance in Bejing, China. Anyone interested in learning about the evolving and progressing intersection of AI and investment is welcome to attend.

The conference will provide hotel accommodations for accepted paper presenters, paper discussants, and session moderators for up to 3 nights.

This conference will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to network with like-minded academics and professionals and gain valuable knowledge and insights to help make informed investment decisions. The conference will feature a keynote speech, interactive workshops, and panel discussions on a range of topics related to AI and investment. We invite the submission of research papers in all areas related to the intersection of AI and investment, including but not limited to the following topics. We particularly encourage the submission of Asia-related research papers.

• The applications of AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and other novel analytic methods in research for all areas of financial economics.
• The use of unstructured data (e.g., text, images, voice and facial recognition, mobile footprint, satellite data, geolocation, and social media) in investment and related areas such as auditing and assurance.
• The use of machine learning/AI/high-performance computing in the finance industry and academic research.
• The social and economic impact of AI adoption, i.e., the opportunities and challenges associated with the widespread adoption of AI and its impact on stakeholders of adopting firms and industries.
• The ethical considerations of AI in finance, including issues related to bias and transparency.
• Quantitative investment strategies and portfolio optimization with machine learning technologies or other AI models.

In addition to the paper presentation and discussion, there will be an industry and policy panel on AI and FinTech in Capital Market Research at the conference.
The Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (https://abfer.org/) will include the accepted program papers in its working paper series. The panel discussion at the conference, as well as a newsletter about the conference, will be published in the 2025 issue of JFDS.
In addition, the JFDS will sponsor one Best Paper Award and one Best Discussant Award, $1000 each award.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
The deadline for manuscript submission is May 15, 2025. Please submit an electronic copy, including a one-page abstract (MS Word or PDF only) to aift@pbcsf.tsinghua.edu.cn. Decisions of acceptance will be announced by Jun 15, 2025.

On-site participation is by invitation only, online attending will be arranged through XUESHUO Platform.
