Since its launch at CUHK LAW in 2020, the Machine Lawyering Conference has become a leading international forum for exploring the nexus between law and digital technology. It has earned an impressive reputation across Asia and beyond, attracting participants from around the world. Experts contribute to a rich dialogue by presenting research and interacting with each other on a broad array of topics, from the legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) to issues of data and platform governance. This vibrant exchange has been instrumental in facilitating a dynamic cross-pollination of ideas among attendees.

Continuing its commitment to fostering these important discussions and keeping pace with technological advancements, CUHK LAW’s Centre for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) will host the Fifth Machine Lawyering Conference on 29-30 May 2025. The upcoming conference will concentrate on the legal challenges associated with the rapidly evolving landscape of digital technologies.

Abstracts and papers submitted by the specified date below will undergo blind peer evaluation by a review committee. The committee will honor outstanding contributions by awarding up to three Best Paper Prizes and three Honorable Mentions. These accolades include round-trip economy airfare to Hong Kong and a three-day hotel stay during the conference. Additionally, recipients of the Best Paper Prize will be honored with an invitation to serve as keynote speakers in the conference and will receive a daily allowance to cover expenses throughout their time at the conference.

Abstract (max 350 words) submission: 4 February 2025
Notification of acceptance: 3 March 2025
Paper submission for best paper prize: 6 April 2025
Registration deadline for accepted authors: 28 April 2025
