Assistant Professor of Finance
Job Description & Qualification
Bryant University seeks to fill a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Finance position, beginning August 1, 2025. The successful candidates will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to scholarly research, and to departmental and University service. While we welcome applications from candidates in all areas of finance, we have a particular need for a candidate with a background in corporate finance, possibly with additional education or experience in fixed income or alternative investments. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in our undergraduate business program (BSBA) and our MBA program.
Research Data Support
Bryant subscribes to the typical databases used in financial research (e.g., CRSP, Compustat), as well a number of specialized data services in support of research on corporate governance, banking, and ESG topics. We utilize the WRDS platform at Bryant to organize these databases. Bryant also provides access to FactSet and Bloomberg terminals to support research and teaching in Finance.
Appointment
Begins August 1, 2025. Rank is Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with preparation, experience, and demonstrated performance, and consistent with AACSB salary levels.
Principal Activities
Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses
Helping to enhance departmental programs and curriculum through developing and teaching new courses.
Advising students at all levels of the department’s curriculum.
Assisting students with research or other relevant projects.
Developing and pursuing an active program of research consistent with AACSB standards.
Participating in appropriate service to the department, the college, and the university at large.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Finance or International Finance from an AACSB-International or EQUIS accredited institution. ABD with completion expected by June 2025 will be considered. Candidates should be committed to teaching excellence, establishing a scholarly publication record consistent with AACSB standards, and serving as an active member of the Bryant community. A demonstrated capacity to conduct research that speaks to both academic and managerial audiences is highly desirable. The successful candidate must be able to teach courses at both the undergraduate (BSBA and BSIB) and graduate (MBA) level.
Successful candidates will also demonstrate the potential, as their career progresses, to conduct a variety of scholarly activities that support research and teaching, e.g., building new programs, writing research grants, establishing connections with the business community and alumni, and developing new courses, along with service activities that include designing, participating in and leading new initiatives, mentoring students, and being an active participant in departmental and institutional activities.
