ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF FINANCE

The Department of Finance in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri (MU) invites applications for a tenure-track position starting in Fall 2025. Successful candidates will possess strong potential for high-quality research and publications in top-tier finance journals. Potential for high quality, impactful teaching at the undergraduate (BSBA), graduate (MBA/MSF), and doctoral levels is also required. The teaching load is commensurate with research expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a terminal degree in Finance or a related discipline by the start date.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
Candidate’s academic research/teaching interests can include but are not limited to corporate finance, investments, financial markets, and fintech (including AI/machine learning). Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate or MBA level and willingness to teach online classes are desirable. Evidence of scholarship beyond the dissertation will be viewed favorably by the search committee. Experienced candidates should have an established record of publication in the top finance journals, a continuing program of research with potential for top-tier publication, and a willingness to teach in the MBA and/or Ph.D. programs.

About the Department of Finance at MU:
The Department of Finance is home to a collegial, highly productive, and dedicated faculty with expertise and talents in a range of finance areas. In addition to providing exceptional instruction, our faculty publish regularly in top tier finance journals, such as JF, JFE, RFS, and JFQA.

The department offers required and elective courses for the BS in Business Administration degree program and MBA program, has an active Ph.D. program, and recently started an online MS in Finance program. The department provides an environment that is highly supportive of research. Resources include WRDS, CRSP, SDC, Bloomberg, LSEG Workspace, Compustat, BoardEx, Pitchbook, and other databases, a resident database programming assistant, research assistants (doctoral students), and summer research support.
The Department: The Department of Finance has a current enrollment of about 500 junior and senior finance majors for the BS in Business Administration degree. The department participates in the MBA program, has an active PhD program, and an online M.S.–Finance Program.

The Trulaske College of Business, founded in 1914, enrolls almost 4,500 students. The college has four academic units – Finance, Management, Marketing and Accountancy. The college offers an undergraduate degree in business administration, a full-time MBA degree, an MS in Business, a 150-hour program that confers both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Accountancy, online graduate degree in Finance (MSF), and Ph.D. degrees in both Business Administration (specializations in Finance, Management and Marketing) and Accountancy.
