Job Description & Qualification

Your main goal is to further advance and profile economic research and education according to the field of expertise in line with the importance of the chair. Apart from your own research, you will play a stimulating role in USE research, to promote a research environment according to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and to engage in activities aimed at attracting external research funding through grants and consulting. Additional duties include supervision of PhD and Postdoctoral research resulting in theses and publications and the transfer of knowledge to society by organising events, such as conferences and workshops. Teaching will be multidisciplinary and applied in nature according to the USE educational profile. Cooperation with other chair groups within USE and Utrecht University in teaching and research is strongly encouraged. The tasks and responsibilities of the chair will include:
 performing and encouraging scientific research in the field of Global Economic Challenges and Development within a multidisciplinary setting;
 supervision of PhD theses;
 contributing to the research climate, among other by stimulating and supervising multidisciplinary research;
 contributing to financial sustainability, among others by active participation in external funding;
 participating in education in the USE Bachelor's and Master's programmes.

The programme has about 1,500 students from various backgrounds and nationalities and is completely taught in English. A Dutch-Language track is likely to be introduced soon.
