Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting
The Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting (with an earned Ph.D. degree) is a full-time, non-tenure-line faculty position within the School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to start in August 2025. The successful candidate must share our commitment to teaching, research, and service; contribute to our efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students; and engage in service activities supporting institutional goals. This is a term position.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the position include:
Teaching: The role for this position is to teach accounting-related classes each semester (normally a "4/4" load). The courses may be in residence, online, or hybrid. The candidate should be comfortable teaching a range of courses in accounting and related disciplines including accounting analytics, financial accounting, auditing (including IT), governmental and non-profit accounting, and other courses as needed. The instructional responsibilities may vary from year to year. The expectation also includes advising students pursuing accounting degrees.
Research/Scholarship Accomplishments: All non-tenure-line faculty are expected to remain active in professional organizations and scholarly pursuits.
Service: All faculty are expected to undertake committee work (at multiple levels of the university), community engagement, and mentorship, and make other contributions to the campus, to DEIB goals and initiatives, and to the broader academic community. Involvement in student extra-curricular activities is also encouraged.
Qualifications: To be considered for the Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Education: candidates with a variety of educational backgrounds will be considered as long as they possess at least one degree in Accounting and a graduate degree in a business field, preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution. A terminal degree in Accounting or related field and professional certifications, such as the CPA, are preferred.
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who possess professional work experience and/or college-level teaching experience related to Accounting.
DEIB Commitment: Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to transforming teaching methods, communication approaches, course materials, learning objectives, and learning environments to support the diverse needs of student populations at Penn State Harrisburg. Any unique DEIB goals or initiatives can be incorporated into the teaching philosophy.
