Abstract
The author reviews fundamental concepts of social entrepreneurship and the roots of Indian culture and philosophy, which helps in creating a better understanding of Indian roots and philosophy. The author suggests that the ultimate goals of entrepreneurship should be creation of sustainable organisations. The author suggests that a culture can be created which can foster social entrepreneurship. The author believes that through concerted actions, we can create an environment, which fosters social entrepreneurship. The author gives examples from the initiatives of Mahatma Gandhi and Indian business groups to support his arguments. The author proposes that traditional institutions and modern institutions both should foster development of social entrepreneurs through age old Indian culture and philosophy and use of latest technologies.
