Abstract
While parents generally act with good intentions, their behaviors can inadvertently lead to deep-seated developmental issues in their children that persist into adulthood. Such unintended parental actions-rooted in factors like excessive control, overprotection, emotional unavailability, and rigid expectations-often result in psychological struggles for the child, including difficulties in forming relationships, hidden emotional distress, and various mental health challenges. The underlying causes of these behaviors are frequently morally justified by the parents, though they inadvertently create lasting harm. This study explores the complex interplay between parental intentions, moral frameworks, and the unintentional harm inflicted on children. It examines how authority, loyalty, and care dynamics manifest in ways that affect attachment, intimacy, and trust into adulthood. Utilizing simulations and case studies, the research aims to (1) identify patterns of unintentional parental harm linked to moral foundations, (2) investigate the long-term effects on adult development, and (3) propose preventative and intervention strategies. Findings are intended to guide parents, inform mental health professionals, and advise policymakers on fostering healthier familial relationships and preventing inadvertent harm.
